Model Box Nr. 108 - «Kooperation»

Dear readers Wouldn’t we all like to experience more «winwin situations»? Collaborations and alliances that stimulate and accelerate joint ventures with optimum results?

And wherever possible on both a large and small scale, in both a private and professional sphere. Between individuals and entire businesses. It all sounds so simple. But let’s be honest, is it really that easy? Why don’t win-win situations come more naturally to us? I think that although the benefits of cooperation are usually identified from the outset, too little thought is given to obstacles or pitfalls.

The foundation for successful joint working is where two or more people or parties strive towards the same, well-defined goal. The crucial thing here is that everyone involved is pulling together in the same direction! Sometimes one person pulls harder, another time it’s someone else’s turn. Other important keystones of success are mutual trust and courage, as well as open and straightforward communication. Patience and clearly defined rules and behaviour also come in useful. Self-interest, however, has no place here at all! Recognising this, accepting it and then actually putting it into practice – these are the prerequisites for active alliances.

Win-win situations come about only when everyone agrees on the advantages and economic benefit of cooperating, and works to remove any potential obstacles or pitfalls. This is how to create synergies, boost efficiency and achieve the desired results.

To generate more win-win situations, we then need to learn to sometimes hold back a little. This holds true both for the private sphere and for joint company ventures. On that note, let’s pull together many more successful collaborations to achieve more win-win situations!
