Valuable knowledge for your postal delivery in Switzerland

    What is a standard package?

    Weight: 30 kg

    Format: 60 × 60 × 100 cm

Good to know: If your parcel is rectangular, Swiss Post can process it automatically and you save additional parcel costs. If you ship special shapes, sizes or materials, your package must be processed manually or is considered bulky goods. This costs extra. In the case of domestic shipments, Swiss Post is liable for loss, damage or incorrect delivery of up to CHF 500.

    What is considered bulky goods?

Larger consignments than standard parcels (consignments over 100 cm or with

two dimensions over 60 cm), consignments with an attached address and unpackaged

Shipments are considered bulky goods. Good to know: Shipping tubes are treated as bulky goods when transported by post. That's why we recommend our trapezoidal shipping and plan boxes for shipping by post, which are not treated as bulky goods.

    What is considered dangerous goods?

Is your product you want to ship a dangerous good? The category of dangerous goods includes all goods that are potentially dangerous for humans, animals or the environment during transport. Dangerous goods must be shipped and labelled in special UN dangerous goods packaging.

    Recommendations for your shipping

    Choosing the best packaging

It doesn't depend on the type of packaging, but on mass and weight. Tip: Send a sturdy shipping box as a letter in Switzerland and save on parcel costs.

    Secure packaging

Because you never know what's going to happen to your package on its way, cushion the contents carefully. Tip: It is better to choose adhesive tape instead of string for closing.

    Parcel costs in Switzerland

    Use advice, reduce costs

Do you send parcels regularly and want to reduce your shipping costs? The decisive factor for this is the total weight of your packaged goods and the outer packaging. Double-wall shipping boxes, for example, are heavier, weighing 1 kg per square meter. In addition, there is your padding and filling material, which also contributes to the weight of your package. This will quickly get you into a higher price tier. Nevertheless, you should pack your goods as safely as possible. We will be happy to advise you on your safest and most efficient postal packaging.
