Easy harvesting in a trendy box
Vitamin-rich microgreens can be picked directly from the box in Model’s smart packaging solution.
CH - 19.07.2019: Crisp, fresh microgreens in a cardboard box with a natural look – the packaging for Fresh Food Family GmbH’s microgreens has received an extremely positive reception from sustainably-minded consu-mers. Baby vegetables or vitamin-rich herbs can be kept fresh in it for up to seven days and put onto your plate in perfectly sized portions. The smart and sustainable solution was developed at Model AG’s Innovation and Competence Center in Weinfelden. The natural look and ease of use are an excellent match for the colourful seedlings, in the cotyledon stage, and cater to the tastes of more than just those who are particularly health conscious.
Microgreens: cardboard box in format
Fresh Food Family GmbH wanted the packaging for their superfood to look as natural as possible. Their vision was for the microgreens to be perfectly showcased and astoundingly easy to harvest. They also didn’t want it to be possible for the box to get wet despite the growing pads inserted at the bottom. For the most part, the 143 x 105 x 90 mm card-board box is free of plastic. The only exception is the window film glued to the bottom surface that serves as a barrier to prevent the moist growing pads used for the microgreens from leaving be-hind any water stains.
In contrast to an all-over PET coating, the film can easily be removed so that the packaging can be recycled. Homoge-neous, offset printing on food-safe cardboard from CustomKote was used for the packaging. The different kinds of microgreens are labelled using different coloured stickers.Click to read more
Easy harvesting straight from the box
The consumer can remove the punched lid from the box by hand. The resulting large window opening on the top and front sides makes it possible to easily pick the microgreens using scissors. The cleverly designed box can then be put back in the refrigerator, and more water can be added to the pad if necessary.Click to read more
