Let me rate your box
Answering three questions will help scientifically rate your box on a scale from utter toxic waste to the best box in the modern world.
Where it came from?
How well did it travel?
Boxes are used for transport (at least – that's their original use). Transport has its environmental impact, as you are probably aware. A good box should make the transport space and energy efficient. Eg. Models lightweight cardboard allows producers to pack more in smaller spaces and save on freight weight. These marginal gains add up...
Where is it going?
Do you know how to recycle it?
Check the recycling information on the packaging to find out where it belongs. If it’s cardboard, make sure it finds its way into the appropriate paper and cardboard collection stream, following your local recycling guidelines.
At Model, we like to see our good boxes come back. Many of our clients participate in our closed-loop system, where used corrugated cardboard is collected and returned to our plants as a source of raw material for new paper and packaging."
