Model Group, which is active in the field of solid and corrugated board packaging, achieved consolidated group sales of CHF 936 million in the past financial year, corresponding to an increase of +8.6% compared to the previous year. The volume of corrugated cardboard packaging increased by +3.6% compared to 2024. A new production record was set with 771,000 tonnes of packaging paper.
On average, Model Group employed 4,344 people (previous year: 4,349), 757 of whom in Switzerland. At CHF 36 million, investments remained below previous years. The main focus of investments was the completion of the paper mill in Eilenburg (Saxony). In the last five years, Model Group has invested a total of CHF 748 million in the packaging sites and paper mills.
Rising sales volume amid persistent price pressure
At its 15 production sites in Switzerland, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Croatia, Model Group produced almost 1.42 billion m² of corrugated cardboard packaging or sheets of corrugated board and 771,000 tonnes of packaging paper for corrugated board production. The significant increase in the volume of packaging paper of +57% compared to the previous year is due to the ramp-up of PM4 in Eilenburg.
After the production volume of corrugated cardboard packaging increased by +7% in 2024 compared to the previous year, Model Group was once again able to increase the volume by +3.6% in 2025 in a challenging market environment. 2025 was again characterized by a dynamic in raw material and energy price developments, which led to falling sales and margins for packaging and paper.
Outlook
With the paper mill in Eilenburg, Saxony, we will continue to expand the production of lightweight packaging paper this year. The resulting impulses for the corrugated cardboard packaging range will have a positive impact on the demand for our products. We therefore expect sales volumes to rise again this year despite the possibly continued depressed market sentiment.
