    WORLD of cardboard

    Both the big and small ‹art by albis’ boxes demonstrate that packaging for «Swiss bedding for the perfect sleeping conditions» – as the company markets itself – can also be an art form. The creative design was realised using Stream Inkjet Technology on the new digital press in Weinfelden. The layout is designed to catch the customer’s eye in store, and the box is easily stackable. The integrated handle then makes it easy for the consumer to carry their purchase home.

    With first-opening guarantee – naturally!

    LLUCKYS® Natural Bricks are for children from 18 months to 5 years old. The sales packaging is stable and sustainable. We wanted to avoid paper cuts from sharp edges, and ensure the box was robust enough to last for a long time, after the bricks are first unpacked. The packaging also had to be easily stackable, and optimised for pallets. Since we didn’t want shrinkwrapping, we used a band with a locking function, integrated into the overall design

    Bringing tradition up to date

    A relaunch of the brand has brought its unique proposition to the fore. Far from being limited to a new logo and packaging design, however, the relaunch has also brought physical changes in the packaging. The secondary corrugated board packaging and the displays have been produced by Model Weinfelden using digital printing.

    Right on target!

    Zweifel worked together with Model to develop the «Euro 2016 Goal» POS display, which ensures the high-impact presentation of the different products. The modular design means the cubes can easily be stacked on top of each other and linked, creating stable, self-supporting structures as needed and adapted in line with the space available. No adhesive is required. The attractive display is rounded off with a topper.

    Bonbon boxes

    An unconventional packaging design order posed a challenge for the technology department in Nymburk. The client supplies bonbons to various countries, but its markets have differing requirements with regard to the placement of the access slot. The solution was a unique construction where the full box can be opened from both the front and the side, and can be used as a sales display.

    No – beer-brewing is not our latest venture. We will stick to what we do best – manufacturing intelligent packaging solutions!

    Do you brew your beer according to season, sporting event, or by moonlight – but your packaging (still) lacks a certain something to make that immediately clear? For just under a year now we have been using a world first in digital printing technology from Bobst SA. It means you no longer have to choose just one image for your packaging.

    Packaging like a spring garden

    The packaging and the content both play on the Easter tradition of hiding treats in the garden. The main packaging evokes a spring garden, concealing an assortment of handmade regional delicacies: chocolate with dried fruit such as cranberries, redcurrants or apple. The garden motif is also continued in the design of the individual elements. The packaging is made from three-ply, corrugated E-flute board. Double-sided tape is used and is already glued in during the manufacturing process. This means the packaging can be folded much quicker and more easily. The design of the main packaging is reminiscent of a box of chocolates, while the bars themselves are in a recess with a simple holder to stop them falling out. The overprint is in four Pantone colours and also varnished.

    Wall calendar

    This 2016 calendar is not only devoted to cardboard, it’s made of it. There are six sheets for two months each, and a cover sheet with openings revealing a map with the production sites of the Model Group. The calendar pages show photographs of six Model locations, and feature individual QR codes linking to further information online as well as samples of packaging designs. In addition to traditional holidays, the calendar itself also highlights some rather unusual days – such as Secretaries’ Day, Office Nap Day, Dreamers’ Day, and Practising Pay Rise Negotiations in Front of the Mirror Day. Besides its material and content, the format is also rather special, namely a 30×30cm square, which catches the eye and sparks curiosity. The calendar can be either hung on the wall or stood up. The packaging was designed and produced at the Biłgoraj plant in Poland.

    Postal packaging

    This delightfully colourful packaging suitable for postal delivery comes in two sizes. The smaller of the two allows up to two pairs of socks to be sent as letter post, leading to a saving on postage costs guaranteed to please the end customer. The printing – as colourful as the socks themselves – was deliberately placed on the inside of the pack, and printed using the new Bobst digital printing press. Of course, the packaging wouldn’t be complete without a tear tape and self-adhesive strip. Packaging serves as a company’s calling card – and this is especially true in this case.

    Cigarette display

    The customer was looking for a simple, effective and versatile POS display for cigarettes. Model SA, Moudon, contructed a compact stand that is easy to set up. The same concept was used for several versions using different digital printing processes and customised headers, and cut using the plotter for small runs. Digital printing means designs can be changed regularly without incurring printing plate costs.

    Digital printing – Uncle Ben’s

    The challenge here was to create an oval display with maximum advertising space, but stable enough to present three trays carrying 25 250g packs of rice. Another special feature is that the packs can be accessed from both sides. The advertising space is important here since it is used to show how easy this new product is to prepare. The complete display including the cover comprises five separate parts, and was printed digitally.

    Boss The Scent

    Dark shades of brown were applied to the classic silver PET base and then finished with an elegant combination of different varnishes. The text inside the debossed bottle image was printed in raised relief, while the content message was partially highlighted with a semi-matte varnish and also debossed. The result is a packaging that strikes the perfect balance between refined elegance, self-confidence and masculine nonchalance.

    Ski pole stand

    A mountain of ski poles inspired the development of a sales stand for the company Völkl. The interesting request from the sales department in Nymburk was taken up by one of the designers, who created a universal stand for several types of ski pole. The partnership with a technical expert from Völkl and Model’s graphic designer resulted in a sales stand used by Völkl in sports stores across the world.

    Ovocňák’s poly-joined display shipper

    The first poly-joined boxes manufactured at the Opava corrugated board plant have paved the way for new packaging elements, particularly in the case of shelf ready packaging. The construction makes it possible to use two different materials, which can each be offset or flexo printed. After performing its function in the transport phase, the lid can be recycled and the goods are ready for display on the shelf in the more appealing lower section – easy to access and readily visible for customers.

    Becherovka herbal liqueur

    The innovation centre in Opava has developed a new range of gift packaging for the high-end Czech herbal liqueur Becherovka. In keeping with the tradition and original recipe of this drink, the packaging design was inspired by a sachet for gathering herbs. Choosing a rustic look also served to strengthen the image of the liqueur as a natural product, and the cardboard was discreetly cold-embossed to heighten the prestige feel.

    Advent case for Prazdroj

    The product development team at folding box manufacturer Model Opava answered the call to design an advent case with cans of Plzeňský Prazdroj lager (Pilsner Urquell). Made from laminated cardboard, the packaging was created in such a way that the individual cans could be easily removed once the windows are opened, the latter being numbered accordingly on the front. And just like a real case, the box was also fitted with a carrying handle.

    Confectionery packaging shaped like a handbag

    The elegant chocolate packaging in handbag form was offset printed in six colours and finally foil-embossed (relief and flat printed) in silver. A delicious assortment of Lindt balls and bars can be found inside.

    The bags are constructed with a rigid bottom seam, while the handle is made from a chain with satin ribbon. The chocolates are packaged in a plastic pouch and placed inside the bag. This ensure that the bag can be used again, for example as gift packaging.

    Creative packaging for regional products

    This Swiss crisp producer has always attached great importance to using local potatoes and knowing where they are sourced. Over 400 farmers throughout Switzerland supply potatoes to Zweifel. To highlight this fact, the company contracted Model to make a digitally printed POS stand in four colours. A special film turns part of the stand into a blackboard so that the local farmer’s name can be written in chalk and wiped off again.

    Is this possible? Yes! Thanks to a range of printed toppers, which are detachable and can be swapped out, a single display can be used to convey multiple marketing messages. Since they are digitally printed, there are no additional ancillary costs for the different designs. Bingo!

    Evian flap display

    The brief was to replace a metal display with a free-standing cardboard display with a maximum height of 1.5 m. Our response was this easy-to-assemble Evian flap display. The display holds three different bottle sizes and can be easily accessed from the front and back, allowing bottles to be effortlessly removed. The display is transported flat-packed to the point of sale by Evian's sales staff, where it can be quickly and easily assembled and stocked. The side panels are reinforced for extra stability. The Evian flap display was honoured at the German Packaging Awards 2015.

    Wood-effect gift packaging

    The history of the Bataillard firm goes back to the 16th century. The family-run business specialises in importing wine and contract bottling and supplies both retail and trade customers. This two-bottle gift box was produced for Bataillard's trade division. Our brief was to optimise a competitor's previous design—an offset laminated box with a multi-part insert.

    The result is enthralling in all respects—a real eye-catcher. It was offset printed at our facility in Au and finished with a special Soft Touch coating and a textured coating. This was all carried out in a single printing process. The combination of the wood pattern and the two coatings makes the wood-effect amazingly realistic.

    The printed sheet was subsequently laminated and cut at Model AG's facility in Weinfelden. The two-part insert protects the wine bottles and serves as a placeholder for two different giveaways. By optimising the insert and reducing it to only two parts, the design reduces the co-packing time and costs. The shipping box was awarded a certificate at the German Packaging Awards 2015.

    The diamond box which lives up to its promises

    The brief: create an exclusive, immaculately finished, diamond-shaped box. The result speaks for itself! For these diamond-studded tights, which are only sold in select outlets, Model AG created a box that is in perfect harmony with its contents.

    Elegant, minimalist hot foil elements perfectly frame the exclusive packaging design, making the product a consumer magnet. The deep black colour of the box leaves no room for unsightly white edges and gives the packaging a luxurious feel. The colour of the box was achieved using a water-based, liquid pigment, without carbon, which means that the packaging is completely biodegradable.

    Corrugated cardboard handbags

    Ever thought that a handbag could be made of cardboard?

    These bags were commissioned by francis & francis bags, who are passionate about creating stylish, exclusive and environmentally friendly handbags.

    These exquisite gems are made from corrugated cardboard. The example shown was decorated with tattoo designs for a trade fair, but many other designs are also possible. The handbags can be laminated with textured paper, for example. From a graceful snakeskin-leather look, to a daring crocodile effect or cool print designs like the above example – the possibilities are endless.

    A special coating makes the handbags water-resistant, while the corrugated cardboard gives them stability. A magnetic catch allows the bags to be easily opened and closed. The leather-look handle not only looks good; it also serves its purpose.

    When the bag has come to the end of its life, it can be recycled—making way for a new model from the francis & francis range.

    Easter basket

    A very special bunny hutch: with its stylish look, this distinctive Easter design is truly captivating. Carefully coordinated components make it seem as though the gold bunny is sitting in a fenced-off meadow area, while Soft Touch and UV gloss coatings give the fence a wood-like texture. The basket has an intricate false bottom, which is folded together. As well as giving the basket an elegant appearance, this also means that it can be easily handled and delivered flat-packed. The bunny is placed inside the insert, which holds it in position. The false bottom underneath the insert contains chocolate eggs. The packaging looks stunning and boasts many delightful visual and tactile features.

    The fence is part of a base section that is automatically erected when folded. On the customer's request, the insert was designed so as to allow the bunny to be placed inside it from above. This significantly reduces packing times. The packaging dimensions were chosen to enable optimal usage of the POS display space.

    Goldbunny house

    A real eye-catcher that enthralled young and old this Easter. Its gently sloping conical shape allows for large window cut-outs, from which the chocolate bunnies emerge. The bunnies are held in place by an insert, which, like the house itself, is delivered flat-packed. The insert is snapped into position.

    The bunny house is designed and built to look like a wood cabin on an open meadow, creating a homely and spring-like atmosphere. Since the inlay is also green, the bunnies appear to be sitting on the meadow.

    The Flap display concept

    The concept was developed in response to market trends and a noticeable shift in our customers’ requirements. Flap was designed for customers who favour an extremely fast unpacking process as a means of reducing costs. Economic realities are causing companies to look at costs from different angles. Rather than focusing on individual cost items, they are considering the process and cost chain as a whole, including administrative, packaging, unpacking, training, error and logistics costs. This is where the Flap display concept comes in, bundling all the individual costs into one product and reducing them at the same time. The flap display was awarded a certificate at the Swiss Packaging Awards.

    Speed: The fastest sales display on the market! It can be assembled in just a few seconds. The results are faster unpacking and lower costs.

    Stability: Built to last! Always geared to the job at hand, whether it has to carry 1 kg or 25 kg per shelf. Supports help to bear the load.

    Simplicity: Assembly instructions are a thing of the past. Now there is Flap: pull up, and you are done.

    1 : 1: The customer orders one display and gets one display, not 10 different components. This makes things a lot easier.

    Flexible promotion options

    Two special editions were added to the Trojka vodka line over the summer. Available for only a limited period, these products were the perfect match for digital printing. There were no costs for producing stereo types, and the die-cutting tools from the existing range could be reused.

    The engine driving packaging development

    This beer packaging, which represents a V8 Scania engine, was used for the first time at the Trucker Festival in Interlaken. The strong double flute gives the necessary stability, while digital printing enabled the image to be amended as required at no additional cost.

    All in One

    This clever, one-piece shipping box is used for the return of repaired mobile phones.

    The lower section has a large compartment for cables, manuals, accessories or the original box. The top section has a casing that holds the electronic devices firmly place. The special feature of the casing is the perforation on one side in a special pattern with several cut lines, creating a sort of trampoline effect. This special arrangement of cuts and stops, which allow the material to rotate, offers impressive flexibility and stretchability. The insert rotates and creates a cavity. The contents sit firmly in place inside the shipping box and are perfectly protected from outside elements.

    Ingenious simplicity - SplitUp

    Developed by Model AG, the SplitUp system is ingeniously simple and highly effective! The simplicity lies in the arrangement of the packaging construction opposite and contiguous to the printed sheet. This minor adjustment makes it possible to save on packaging material, without changing the functionality of the packaging. SplitUp was awarded a certificate at the Swiss Packaging Awards.

    The simple and efficient display was created in the form of a 1/4 and 1/2 display for a large POS retail campaign in Switzerland. New requirements in terms of  the height and substructure as well as the requirement that all product groups have an identical display design were implemented in record time.

    Shop-in-shop display

    The triangular display solution offers effective and simple assembly at the point of sale. It has space for 36 wine bottles in different varieties and shapes. In each section one bottle can be positioned upright for optimum presentation of the wine. Next to each upright bottle, four additional bottles can be placed at a slight incline. This incline eliminates the need for any additional stabilisation.

    The display has five different parts, is quickly assembled and does not require any gluing. The integrated interlocking mechanism allows for optimal alignment. The triangular base and individual structural elements make the display highly stable. The gable completes the overall look. The display was awarded bronze in the display SUPERSTAR competition.

    The sliding lid of this packaging is finished using a laser cutting technique with great attention to detail. White board glued to the back as a background adds a final touch reminiscent of an elaborate paper cut-out.

    A look of sensuousness

    The shimmery gold surface is the dominant feature of the folding box for this feminine fragrance from Davidoff. The gold tone overprinted with reflective silver lettering evokes the soft late afternoon sun on a beach. The colour of the ocean offers a subtle background accent in the form of narrow blue stripes at the edge of the box.
    Depending on the light, these briefly flow to the fore and then ebb back into the golden reflections. The embossed brand and product names in white UV glossy lacquer are incorporated into the interplay of reflections.

    The display solution for makers of nightwear has been used in Swiss retail to let people know that SCHIESSER is a leader when it comes to sleepwear not only for men, but also for women and children, and aims to tap into new markets.

    Mini Mousse packaging concept

    Mini Mousse is a high-quality fresh product created by Confiseur Läderach. The product assortment consists of a range of eight fresh mini mousses available in various packaging units. This required a custom, solution-oriented and aesthetically pleasing packaging concept that emphasised the “light and airy” quality and made the Läderach brand an experience of the senses.

    Another successfully mastered, major challenge for the product designers at Model was to ensure simple handling for the sales personnel in the chocolate shops as the products are packaged right in front of the consumers.  

    The bottom sections are made of a stable and attractive looking cardboard with a conical shape. This makes it possible to nest the bottom sections in stacks, offering an enormous advantage in terms of delivery and storage, especially at the point of sale. The insert is already in place, but designed so that it  can be handled when flat. The lids are a pre-grooved diecut, which is folded upright along the creases.  The glued-in window makes it possible to see the sweet delicacy inside.

    Jeans Original is a perfect example of everything that is possible with folding boxes. The Replay brand is synonymous with this versatility. Special denims characterised by extreme washes, tears and “dirty” effects call to mind the origins of jeans: work clothes. As a result, even the scent of the label needs to convey the lifestyle associated with the label. The task of the packaging was therefore clear. As a result, the folding box offers a real jeans feeling. The choice of board was natural brown F-wave with Ensocoat coating that replicates the denim fabric. Lacquer effects and textured embossing offer an astoundingly realistic look and feel. Along with the embroidered red Replay logo, the consumer can feel the distinctive three-dimensional rivets as well. And of course, the design does not neglect the typical leather emblem either. The deceptively real-looking surface is due to a combination of hybrid lacquers, soft-touch coating and textured embossing. The front is printed in five colours along with UV gloss and UV matt lacquer.

    Winner in the “Display and Promotional Packaging” category at the German Packaging Awards 2014. This five-colour offset-printed display solution in a Wimbledon look holds 108 halflitre bottles. The three display shelves each support up to 10 kg. The glued-on base of EB flute is strengthened with a crosspiece, meaning that it can hold as many as 48 bottles. The central wall – the core component of the entire construction – goes right through the base, thereby transferring the weight to the pallet via a dolly plate.

    Variable transport packaging

    The specific requirement for this transport packaging for razor blades was that it should be able to cope with the variable packaging and dispatch of around ten different razor blade boxes of different sizes. Further characteristics such as quick assembly, a tamper-proof guarantee and attractive product presentation were also a priority. The variety in the range was covered by two clever packaging solutions: a mini version that can be sent by letter post, and a maxi version which is suitable for several individual packages thanks to the flexible insert. The products are presented as if on a pedestal. To ensure ease of assembly, the tabs on the side are glued on by machine and can be simply locked into place with the flick of a finger. This also protects against theft since the tabs cannot be withdrawn once the package has been sealed. To seal the package, a self-adhesive strip is used which is positioned inline when the corrugated board is manufactured. A perforated tear-off strip helps the consumer open the package.

    Winner Swiss Packaging Award 2014 - The safe is an effective marketing device which immediately attracts the attention of the potential customer.     Luxury packaging for a one-litre bottle of 12° beer. The first version of this packaging, in white/brown F-flute corrugated board, was aimed at the “dad” market. A Christmas gift option was released shortly afterwards. Both boxes are constructed in the same way, with a similar design emphasised by cold embossing and a skineffect surface. The two-stage blind embossing has the biggest impact, however. A brass die stamp was used to create a raised outline of the bottle and other elements.

    With a water content rising from 33% at the core to over 80% at the surface, “Total 1” daily contact lenses are very comfortable to wear. The design of the folding box elegantly reflects the product’s changing water content with variations in colour tone. Soft, lens-shaped curves and inviting, UV matt-varnished surfaces underscore the feelgood factor. An upward flourish in embossed silver foil simulates the high water content of the uppermost surface of the lens, and sets this element off against the white background. The brand name is discreetly accentuated with relief embossing.

The popular bags of candy lie open in the lower part of this packaging; all you have to do is remove the lid. The packaging thus fulfills a dual function as transport packaging and as a sales display that easily fits on the shelf.

    Transport and presentation packaging in one: the specially shaped packaging produced by Model Opakowania in Bilgoraj does more than look good. Made of corrugated board, the packaging holds eight 200 ml bottles. It was specially developed to take account of the particular properties and qualities of this sensitive beverage. Thanks to the perforation  and the double folding on the lid, after assembly the transport packaging can be simply transformed into an attractive presentation packaging.

    Music Box

    At the International Confectionery Fair (ISM) in Cologne, 90 journalists chose the top 3 innovations among the 120 products entered. Produced by Model PrimePac AG in Au, the Music Box was ranked third. Opening the attractive gift pack containing a selection of sweet specialties adroitly separated by a cardboard insert sets off a cheerful yodel melody that transports the recipient to the world of Kägi.

    This wine packaging replaces a gift box that up to now was produced in wood. From the outward appearance you cannot tell the difference. The printing is a very faithful reproduction of the wood grain and structure. This packaging was produced by Model Obaly in Moravské Budejovice.

    A two-sectional demonstration package composed of a lid with semi-automatic closure and three-spot glued bottom, developed for Pekpol, is the joint work of two plants from Model Group. Four-coloured varnished offset sheets were the product of work by experts from Opava in Czech Republic, whilst the structure and workmanship of the packaging was the effect of works in Czosnów, Poland. Thanks to this cooperation, impressive results were achieved!

    The project of the die-cut packaging, which includes a corrugated tray and a wraparound box for CorteS beer produced by Van-Pur brewery has been in our firms offer for two years now. During that time  our  specialists have been analyzing the possibilities of changes which could increase the functional and esthetic values of the product itself. Within last months  they have adapted this project to the use of flexoprinting, with utilization of FlatPoint printing plate. The technology of flat overprint allows on application of the smallest types of fonts and points, along with achieving full clarity and clearness of the print and an even coverage of the whole surface. Varnish covered and available in to  five different colors, the print  impresses with precision and esthetics of execution. This slight modification  has significantly affected the attractiveness of the packaging and it’s ability of drawing the consumers  attention. The transport packaging has been therefore transformed into sales and promotion packaging.

  • Model answer to the customer’s needs

    The die-cut packaging for the FIORE sparkling wine, produced by Ambra S.A. has been in our  portfolio since may 2012. This corrugated board packaging capable of containing up to eight 200ml bottles, has been designed specifically to cater to this delicate liquor’s needs. The application of the packages perforation and a double crease closing flap, results in a combination of transport packaging and sales and promotion packaging with high esthetic values. Five-color varnish flexoprinting, executed in the flat overprint technology, with utilization of FlatPonit  printing plate (screen ruling 84 Lpi) adds to the attractiveness and the spirit of this product. The packaging for FIORE wine is an example of a model answer to the customer’s requirements.

    Sonderegger AG used laser beam precision to cut out the masterly silhouette of Swiss German artist Ueli Hofer. A two-color offset printing on the base describes the different chocolates enclosed in the exclusive rigid cardboard box.

The exquisite pralines are literally served to the consumer on a golden platter.

    The three-dimensional decorative element with interchangeable tag was litho offset printed. Great care was taken to ensure that there were no open or visible edges.     Miko international makes traditional Armenian honey cakes from an old family recipe and packs its delicious products in packaging supplied by Model Obaly, Opava. Every piece of the packaging set features a pleasant combination of matching wine red and creamy colors. Four-color print was combined with matt and glossy varnishes to achieve the final pleasant visual experience. Some of the graphic elements used were highlighted through relief embossing.

    Model Obaly, Opava produced an interesting packaging concept for Ostrapack Belgian pralines. At a glance, the packaging cover seems to be covered with fine leather. This fantastic leather imitation was achieved with the use of relief embossing. The sides of the offset printed packaging were finished with hot gold foil stamping. The final appearance is very impressive.

    The volcano’s peak is a three-dimensional sparkle in the sky. Waves break on the jutting cliffs. These impressive, yet discreet effects are achieved with hybrid varnishing. An exciting interplay between matt shimmering surfaces and clear glossy surfaces gives the glowing silver and gold backgrounds of the two versions of the game their particular optical charm.

Copack Plus, Nymburk, was responsible for distribution in the Czech Republic and for the finish in the individual shopping centers.

    The Bischofzell Nahrungsmittel AG surprised its customers with a “Keep Cool 2011” package, following the slogan “Simply enjoy.” In keeping with the slogan, the rigid hinged-lid packaging with insert was printed with an ice-cube motif, litho-laminated on both sides and partially varnished with UV gloss varnish using a screen printing process. The gloss varnish underscores the snow and ice motif.

    Easy handling and easy sale are the most important advantages of the sales packaging. After removing the lid, the goods are presented directly to the customer in the packaging. The sales packaging is made of corrugated board of two different qualities flexo printed in two and four colors. Polyjoiner processing has enabled the Nymburk plant to add to the successful product line consisting of this type of packaging.

    Thanks to the construction of the sixpack and the decision to use high-quality paper, it was possible to produce a stable packaging using microflute corrugated board. In the Polish market the sixpack is an innovative beer packaging (0.33 l bottles) and a convincing alternative to less practical forms of foil packaging.

    Model Obaly a.s. in Moravské Budejovice produces export packaging for solar panels for a Taiwanese firm. Each box (1695 x 1025 x 1050 mm) holds 23 solar panels, every one individually fixed firmly in position by means of corner protectors. The box was made with seven- and five-ply corrugated board in combination with die-cut  polyurethane pre-cuts, protective corners to hold the solar panels firmly in place inside the box for their protection, and Velcro tape to secure the lid.

    Elegant folding boxes for spirits. The offset printed surface is perfectly smooth and the image quality razor sharp. The exclusiveness of the products is emphasized by the choice of colors in combination with the printing on silvery foil using the latest finishing techniques such as effect and UV varnishes and relief embossing. The printed sheet was laminated onto a white/white double corrugation.

    For the product developers at Model PrimePac AG, Au/SG, the challenge in producing this apparently simple packaging solution was to design a resealable cardboard box which did not exceed the letter post format of 20 mm despite the fact that the test sticks have a diameter of 18 mm. At the same time, the packaging needed to  provide its contents with the best possible protection. The kerb edge provides excellent protection and the single-colour offset printing on the inside of the packaging uses simple picture instructions to show the user how to handle this paternity test.

    Design and properties underline the prestige of the brand. Light reflections in high gloss UV varnish impart an unfathomable depth to the surface. In the foreground the lettering of the brand name is enthroned in bare precious metal. The effect is achieved through the combination of relief embossing and silver foil litho-lamination.

    The Christmas display is decorated with different high-quality chocolate products with a Christmas theme. The 4-tray display has been developed to create an elegant pre-Christmas presence at the POS. Each of the trays can be refi lled separately as required. The sales display is printed in a combination of offset and flexo.

    The fl oor display consists of just three elements. The rear wall (EB70) is glued to the front element (EB70). The topper (e64 laminated) is assembled so quickly and easily at the POS that it does not even come with instructions. The extension that juts out at the back gives the display greater stability.

    What makes this display exceptional is the fact that it is produced without any adhesive at all. The locking device for the trays holds the display walls together, obviating the need for glue. The trays and the inner surface are fl exo printed, while the topper and the outer shell are offset printed. Three identical trays are tilted at different  angles so that it is easier to see the products. As the display consists of only fi ve parts it can be assembled very quickly and easily.

    Light packaging

    Elegant packaging that highlights the antique design of the GALLUS™ Light in an exceptional manner. This patented candleholder has a fascinating property: a rotating fl ame with controllable movement. The inventor insisted that each of the fragile items be sold in environmentally compatible cardboard packaging. The choice fell on B-flute corrugated board, which is offset laminated on the brown side so as to produce two high-quality surfaces. Thanks to the ingenious construction of the packaging interior, the candleholder can be exported all over the world without any risk of breaking.

    Despite its simple structure, this counter display with fl yer box is very stable. The offset printed, completely glue-free display consists of topper, tray and fl yer box and is quickly and easily assembled. Just one tool was used to make all the parts.

    The embossed printing with hologram foil causes the body and peacock eyes of the stylized bird to glisten alternatively in silver and the colors of the rainbow. Embossing and glossy foil delicately highlight the silhouette of the logo, the product name and a meander pattern.

    The packaging serves as gift packaging for dried fruit and muesli. A neutral layout was chosen so that it can be used for the sale of BioKing dried fruit at all times of the year. The customer requested a semi-high gloss UV varnish. Owing to the risk of migration into the product (dried fruit), Model ICC offered drip-off varnish as an  alternative. This can be applied inline in offset printing and creates an iridescent matte-gloss effect, and will not harmfully affect food.

    The customer was looking for an innovative presentation concept as a sales promotion measure. With this display we have developed an eye-catcher that fulfi lls all requirements. The product is attractively presented on a column and directly accessible. The integrated LCD screen simply needs to be connected to the power supply and will play a short fi lm about the product in a loop to inform the target group. The solution uses digitally printed EE fl ute with white paper on both sides. The construction of the base and lid includes a corrugated core to provide stability.

All “Le Chocolatier Suisse” specialties make suitable quality presents that satisfy the  highest standards.     The ran gas kettle barbecue was specially developed for the Football World Cup in South Africa by OUTDOORCHEF International AG in conjunction with SAT.1 television’s “ran” football programme. A two-piece offset litho laminated display was produced to advertise the barbecue. The Co-Packing Service of Model AG assembled and glued the display. The display is delivered as a flatpack and can be assembled at the point of sale in a matter of seconds.

    As sponsor of the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Dairy Farming Festival, Feldschlösschen wanted a display that communicated primarily via visual images and encouraged the target group to buy the product, as Feldschlösschen and Swiss wrestling are inseparable. The pithy offset litho laminated display with its life-size wrestler is
    designed primarily for the retail trade.

    As a sign of its appreciation, PostFinance sent its long-standing customers a refi ned black package fi lled with tasty truffl es from the well-known chocolate-maker “Confi serie Sprüngli AG”. The black and gold (hot foil embossed) combination covering the cardboard packaging suggests value, quality, and simple elegance. The
    lightly structured base and slip-on lid is covered in black and conveys a perceptible surface feel. The specially developed shipping packaging made of white FSC paper not only protects the soft contents during transport, but also complies with the current ProClimate requirements.

    Suchard Imagine – successful presentation in low-migration inks This outstanding bell-shaped folding box construction was developed specially for Suchard. The successful presentation of the fresh, bright colours has been achieved with low-migration inks. Gold hot foil printing and a tasteful embossed logo heighten the perceived value of this chocolate box packaging. The transparent window offers customers a view of the package’s sweet contents.

    Maestrani, a chocolate factory in eastern Switzerland, launched this decorative Fanbox of chocolates for the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa. The box is in a football pattern and filled with fine MINOR chocolates. The inside of the Fanbox is designed as a football stadium. When opened, the Fanbox turns into an extravagant presentation dish with the practical effect that the contents can be easily shared. Printed with low-migration inks, the rectangular Fanbox is ideal for parties and draws the admiration not only of diehard football fans.

    This display is already being successfully used by the Schloss Affaltrach wine cellars. It is now also being used for Piccolo bottles. The aim was to make the best possible use of the existing display so as to accommodate the maximum possible number of Piccolo bottles. The chief attraction of this display base is its versatile modular designability in conjunction with perforated panels. The EB flute used with the perforated panels guarantees sufficient stability despite the punched perforations, producing a display that is easy to handle and allows good all-round presentation of merchandise. Right-hand illustration: If the base of the pyramid display is combined with trays, with little work and at low cost it can also be used to display gift packages.

    Thermoplan was looking for the best possible transport packaging for its coffee machine, which up to now had been packaged in polystyrene. The new packaging should not only be cheaper, but above all ecologically recyclable. No glue was used in this packaging solution. The base insert is folded quickly and easily. There are two  inserts to protect the touchscreen and plastic container from scratches. For transportation, a cover made of a two-flute corrugated board grade is used to provide the machine with adequate protection while in transit.

    Gold, silver and bronze “Extraordinary Members Club” membership cards are dispatched to new members. Model has developed a solution for this which covers all three categories. For the fine gold version an additional magnetic closure was used. To be able to use just a single tool to package the silver and gold cards, the slot was replaced by a crease. The attractive layout of the offset litho laminated packaging means it can be used for mailing and promotions.

    Corrugated board is a very versatile material, as its use in constructing a Nuc box for bee colonies has once again demonstrated. The cardboard construction has enormous advantages over conventional woodenconstructions. API-MODEL does offer the following advantages:

    • The box contains six CH brood combs when empty
    • Screened bottom board ventilation grill at the base
    • Its size is such that it fi ts in Swiss boxes
    • It takes up little storage space when folded flat
    • It is very light, it can easily be transported to another site

    The stable, conical plinth (eb 75) of the Roland Petite Pause pallet display stands on a ¼ Chep pallet and holds 5 or 3 trays (ee72). The trays are slightly tilted to optimize weight distribution. The topper (ee72), which is printed on one side, comes with the display and is inserted only at the POS.

    Fitting for the ski season, Swisscanto is advertising using a corrugated board display. The display in the form of a ski gondola (2 x 1.5 m) is delivered as a flatpack and printed on the front and back. There are two holders for flyers on either side.

    Swiss MBT footwear 75
    The cubes are part of MBT dealers’ winter POS and store window campaign. The cubes are offset printed and laminated. Completely sealing the edges ensures that the corrugation is concealed. Ingenious tuck-in flaps hold the cube together without adhesive. MBTs are highly effective fitness and training devices that at the same time replace shoes. Swiss MBT shoes were invented in Roggwil, Canton Thurgau, about 10 years ago..

    Ivapool folding box 75
    Thanks to its wonderful design dominated by light blue, the Ivapool folding box immediately reveals its connection with water. This die cut box is made for Croatian company Inokem, a producer of detergents and other products for swimming pool cleaning and hygiene. The box is laminated and made of B-flute, and its careful construction minimizes risks of detergent spilling or damage. A plastic handle is added on top of the box for easier carrying.

    Poli (Pipo) 75
    Poli – a popular brand of special chicken sausage – has been present on the Croatian market for over 35 years. Recently, Poli introduced the youngest member of their family: Poli pâté – chicken pâté made to the highest quality standards. The folding box for Poli pâté is made of laminated E flute; inside, it contains an insert with slits for perfect and tight positioning of the product to reduce transport damage as far as possible. The box is also a good example of shelf-ready packaging because it serves as transport packaging and can be displayed at the point of sale.

    Although designed for the POS, the packaging must be strong enough to take the weight of the contents and stable enough for transportation and storage at the customer's home. What is more, the Rimuss boxes are automatically filled. To guarantee competitiveness at the POS, an offset litho-laminated design was chosen for Rimuss’s popular non-alcoholic beverage for special occasions for the whole family. B-flute corrugated board provides the requisite stability.

    Dr. Irena Eris – The highest technology inside ecology 75
    The company of successful Polish businesswoman Dr. Irena Eris uses ecologically based ingredients in the manufacture of its range of premium personal care products. The packaging is intended to visualize the natural image of the cream. The reduction of the folding box to its crucial elements appeals to the customer's ecological awareness. The raw cardboard with its slightly uneven surface and the soft beige-gray color scheme awakens associations with recycling material. The design purposefully avoids any sophisticated finish. The sole emphasis is provided by the ingenious embossing.

    Suitcase 75
    This attractive Swissness-style suitcase is an ideal souvenir for travelers from around the world. The outside of the suitcase is decorated with popular touristic motifs, so that long after visitors have eaten the content of fine Suchard Naps, they can still enjoy indulging in memories of their stay in Switzerland. Gold hot foil printing highlights the famous Suchard brand and draws attention to the sweet contents of the packaging.

    Oilily Lucky Girl 75
    A touch of romanticism, an element of secrecy, and a bundle of dreams: the design and finish of the folding box are chosen to appeal precisely to girls between the ages of 10 and 18. Playful patterns and fantastic motifs entice them into the world of the Lucky Girls. The technical execution is just as detailed as the motif. The embossing and embossed foil printed in pink, mauve, and blue let the brand and product names stand out clearly against the labyrinth-like background. The contrasting color and multi-level embossing create the impression that the two larger hearts are sewn-on patches. The three-dimensional effect is perfected using Model Cut Art.

    Women’s cosmetic creams line by Dermacol. The packaging, made of GC cardboard, features silver colored laminated metal foil. Hybrid color print combines two varnishes, accentuating the graphic design through the skin and gloss effects.

    The hybrid color technology allows printing on nonabsorbent packaging materials such as PP (polypropylene) foils. Packaging made of such material is resistant to moisture and smear. Furthermore, use of these materials means packaging designers can choose from a wider range of shapes.

    Two Ravens – Two Ravens San Gottardo 75
    Single malt whisky from Canton Schwyz in a simple, yet very elegant appearance. The intention is to highlight the product name and origin, which are underscored by the printed image “Upland moor in Einsiedeln”. Ageing in a disused military bunker in the Gotthard region gives Two Ravens San Gottardo that extra something. E-flute corrugated board is used for the plain offset printed and laminated
    sales packaging. The packaging has a lock bottom to facilitate easy assembly, a lid with tuck-in safety flap, and an eye-catching cool elegance.

    Two gift packages with dividers to hold 3 and 6 bottles for all bottle formats used by Caveau Artisans Vignerons Ollon (five formats). Using the same divider material for two specifications, a top-quality print design (Masterflex) is achieved in flexo-printed smooth black and gold.

    Trottet coffee wants the type of display that affords the customer easy access to the capsules. The display presents the product and the brand. The quality of the cardboard is determined by the weight of the product and in particular by the subject to be printed. The display serves as packaging for presentation and dispatch. The square format is space-saving. The 5-color printing (4 + varnish) on microflute with Masterflex produces a high-quality printed display.

    The customer at Chaillot Bouchons wanted BIBs for three different volumes: 3, 5 and 10 liters. The BIBs stand out for their elegance of design and the fineness of the print motifs. Using Masterflex for the design work with fine lines and screens, we created a background motif with an attractive contrast and nuances of color. The three BIBs were produced in automated runs, which greatly facilitated production and packaging.

    The gentle kybun training method is based on a novel standing and walking concept that encourages people to sit less and stand more and rediscover the joy in movement. There is a wide range of kybun training mats, shoes, trainers and furniture. This offset laminated display presents an overview of the various possibilities. The kybun shoes are displayed on special mountings.

    We developed four mechanisable formats for fruit trays made of cardboard, the quality of which can be adapted to the needs of the customer. A new design was developed, based on the color code used in the industry. A machine for gluing the fruit trays was installed on the customer’s premises to guarantee just-in-time delivery.

    Production of this die cut box faced us with a particular challenge as it is meant to be both transport and gift packaging. So the main goal was to produce an attractive yet functional box. The box is made of B-flute cardboard with simple, but interesting 2-color flexo print. The construction of the box allows products to be stored upright to avoid potential damage and spilling of detergents and a plastic handle is added on top for easier handling.

    Sonderegger AG used laser beam precision to cut out the masterly silhouette of Swiss German artist Ueli Hofer. The coating paper (silhouette) was then finished in silver embossed foil
    printing by Model PrimePac AG and the packaging processed into a stable form. A two-color offset printing on the base describes the different chocolates enclosed in the exclusive rigid
    cardboard box.
